Midori

WIP sketch for a job (though I'm not saying what at the moment).

Anders

Lazy first attempt at this guy.  I need to spend some actual time learning to draw these guys and LESS time doing lazy art.

2 days until I get Dragon Age 2!!!

Easter Panda

Found this in a pile of sketchbook stuff today.  Must have drawn Panda around Easter time.  This was pretty much how I felt too by the end of Easter Sunday!

Robin

Not scanned anything new for a while.  Here's an old pen sketch of Robin that eventually became this picture

Saturday 14 May 2011

It has just occurred to me today that I am highly enjoying a cutesy cartoon with a baby dragon I adore...and at the same time I am playing a video game I love that partly involves brutally slaying the same mythological creatures... This is a cross-over that CAN'T end well (if only for my party members!)

chibi sketches

Started these up for a meme I will probably not do anymore.  I still kinda like the Wander and Ezio ones.  May sketch up one more to balance it out and use them for something.

Yes, I do love Video Games very much. :)

old WIP stuff

Been busy and unable to upload stuff all week.

Here's an old WIP of Lambo, until I upload some more sketches tonight.

paper art

Just before I left Hong Kong in late 2009, I was bumming around with making images out of coloured paper.  The stuff posted below is rubbish and was just me learning to make teeny tiny cuts and put things together (with such flawed facial anatomy) but I would honestly LOVE to try and make something sometime in the future.

Shame coloured stock paper is usually so pricey if you want a good collection of colours.

Dragon Age sketch dump

A few sketches.  Mostly of my elf mage and Jessy's dalish elf, but there's an Alistair in there for good measure.

Flow WIP

Inks and coffee down.  Markers to come next!

Tane the Tui

A few months back, I was asked by my current workplace, Wellington Zoo, to design a mascot for the zoo to use in signage about 'Year of the Forest'.  The idea was simply a cartoon Tui, and once he was designed, the name 'Tane' was chosen (named after Tāne Mahuta, the Maori god of the forests).

I did two images in the end - one of the Tui sitting and another waving.  I coloured both in marker and also provided the ink outlines, which then went to marketing.  He was then simplified in colour for printing, and eventually he was ready to go.

You can now see the images around the zoo including banners, posters and even on rub-on tattoos that we give to the kids when they visit the zoo. :)

Below is my final colour for one of the images, along with some of the wooden outdoor pannels that are currently being used with the Tane image on them.

It was pretty cool being able to do some work that could be featured around the zoo.  Since then I've also done a couple of South American style paintings which feature in the new enclosure for Emperor Tamarins and Pygmy Marmosets.

Hopefully, I can do some more art for the zoo in the future too!

For me?

Secret shame:  I have a save file for 'the rose' scene for DA:O which I love to replay from time-to-time just to watch Alistair stumble about with his words and be a hopeless romantic. <3

WIP photos 02

Another WIP desk shot.  These little drawings were done as a congrats to TellTale games for the final chapter of 'Tales of Monkey Island'.  Final piece can be seen here.

WIP photos 01

I must admit, I enjoy seeing Work in Progress (WIP) images on the work surface with/without the tools that are currently being used in it.  Here's one of my own older ones.  The finished picture went to a friend who got myself and Abby movie tickets to see Strong World when we were in Osaka.

New blog

Let's see if I can actually keep to a sketch blog this time around, if only to encourage myself to sketch more.

I love my Elf Mage in 'Dragon Age: Origins'. <3
